My passions are art, family, friends, social justice, animals, and creating community. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Art from the Evergreen State College in Olympia. I am fortunate to have been raised here in the Pacific Northwest my home where I have always enjoyed fresh air, fresh water, mountains, and forests.
I began my career in human service working as a caregiver for a man who had suffered brain damage, watching him relearn many tasks with Occupational Therapy and the important use of art as an intervention increased my commitment to becoming an Art Therapist. The brain is a marvelous and complex organ, and I consider my work to be based in interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB) which was developed by Dan Siegel.
While in graduate school I have worked as an independent provider for DSHS for women who have chronic disabilities and are active in the disability justice movement. I believe that therapy must be as linked to social justice work as it is to personal healing. I consider my work through an intersectional feminist lens always taking into consideration the elements of culture and oppression that are in the therapy room.
I am interested in working with children going through crisis (PTSD, divorce, illness), adolescents dealing with identity issues, and their families. As a trained yoga teacher I am able to include yoga into our practice. I use VR drawing programs for my personal art and would like to explore offering VR therapy to Digital Natives and teens. Also, I have a miniature poodle, Pepper, the therapy dog, who joins me in the office for sessions.
